Gratitude

Gratitude

I learn everyday from the relationship I have with my dogs, Honey and Gus and the amazing dogs I meet in my Yoga With Your Dog classes. They continue to enrich my life by teaching me about things like unconditional love, faith, inspiration, divinity, focus, perspective and letting go. As I practice yoga with my dogs and deepen my relationship with them through this practice, I've become aware of all that I can learn from them. Everyday stuff that comes easily to them but might be a little challenging to me. I'm grateful for their natural and simple wisdom they share just by going about their own business living their dog lives. I've been living with dogs for several years and had no idea how much I could learn from them until I started bringing them into my yoga practice. I offer my sincere gratitude to dogs everywhere for what they bring to us as the natural healers that they are. Thank you...

Meditation: Sit comfortably with your dog with one hand placed gently on your dog's head and one hand on his/her low back . Start by becoming aware of your inhales and exhales. Then become aware of your dogs inhales and exhales. Begin to bring all the things you are grateful for into your breath. Then narrow it down to what you are grateful for from your dog. Inhale, and on the exhale, let your breath travel down your arms out your hands bringing your intentions of healing and gratitude into your dog through your hands with your breath. Eventually let the breath shine from your heart center, shining gratitude out in all directions like a lighthouse . Let you and your dog be a healing beacon for everything around you. Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S. Don't forget to include lots of twisting poses in your practice next week. Twists are good for detoxing the body and organs.

Dog Fancy!

Check out the December issue of Dog Fancy. There's an article on Yoga With Your Dog. I haven't read it yet, so here's hoping it says good stuff : ) . I had a fabulous time participating as a judge yesterday for the N.W. Source pet photo contest. My catagory was "best display of affection". The pictures from the event will be posted on their website, Monday 11/13. www.nwsource.com. Theme of the month-Gratitude...Of course, Thanksgiving!
